Eartham Lane Closure

road-closedjpeg

Dear Customer,

Portsmouth Water is investing £15 million by 2030 to renew 52 km of water mains, aiming to reduce

leaks and improve supply reliability. As part of this overall investment plan we are renewing the water

mains in Eartham Lane and the adjacent fields. These works will be carried out by Cappagh, an

experienced mains-laying contractor.

The project

The works will renew 707m of water mains – 100m up Eartham Lane from the junction with Thicket

Lane and then 607m across the fields adjacent to Park Farm. During this time we will also renew the

valves, hydrants and the supply pipes between the mains and individual properties. Work will start on

Monday 14th September and last for approximately 9 weeks.

Traffic management

In order to keep both our staff and the general public safe Eartham Lane will be closed just past the

junction with Thicket Lane for 4 weeks and there will also be 3-way traffic lights in place on the junction

with Thicket Lane for the same period. Access to residents properties within the road closure will be

maintained at all times.

After this time the works will continue in the fields so the impact on traffic should be minimal.

How will it impact me

A small number of properties may experience a short interruption to water supply (under 3 hours) when

their supply is being transferred onto the new main or when any mains connections are required to be

carried out. Anyone affected will receive a minimum of 48 hours advance notification, and we will also

confirm once the supply is fully restored. If you have a health condition that requires a constant supply

of water or any other concerns about a short term loss of supply, please let us know using the contact

details below. How can I find out more

least possible disruption.
