Recycling and waste collection dates over the festive period confirmed for Chichester District
Residents in the Chichester District are being reminded that the recycling and waste collection dates will alter slightly over the Christmas period.
People can view their personal collection dates online through the Chichester District Council website:www.chichester.gov.uk/checkyourbinday
Residents are also being urged to download the Chichester District Council mobile app and sign-up for handy bin collection reminders. The app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Once installed, residents are encouraged to make sure notifications are switched on so that they can receive timely bin collection reminders and real-time service updates straight to their mobile. More information about the app can be found at: www.chichester.gov.uk/chichesterdcapp
Other changes to collection services include the Garden Recycling Service which will stop on Friday 19 December, starting again on Monday 5 January 2026.

Residents are also being reminded that many festive items can be recycled including foil food trays, drinks bottles, wrapping paper and much more. People can use our app to easily check what materials can and cannot be recycled, during the busy Christmas period.
Any extra waste will be picked up by collection crews on the first collection after Christmas. If residents have any extra recycling, they need to ensure that it is kept dry in a loosely tied black sack and placed next to their recycling bin on collection day.
Residents are also asked to remember to flatten and fold down excess cardboard or cut it down to a manageable size for a single crew member to handle. Residents should ensure that the bin lid can close easily. Recycling needs to be clean, dry, and loose, so it is important to keep the lid closed to stop rain getting in. All polystyrene packaging, foam and plastic wrapping and film should be removed and placed in the waste bin as this cannot be recycled.
